Tri6 Week 7 and 8

We had presentations in Week 6 which went well. Since then that last 2 week we have been working on getting animation and environment close to finish as well as plan for rendering, sound, composting, credits, titles

Animation
currently 5 shots are complete and have the working files have been sent to jimmy to placein his environment and weak. I have 2 shots plus an idle to complete, hopefully by Thursday night. Hai is polishing shot 1 then will get onto composting. Most shots have need a bit of tweaking when viewed apart of the anmiatic and alot of polish work.

Environment
As shots have been completed the working files have been sent to jimmy for him to place in his environment. There are been a few minor issue with maya animation files being corrupted when copied onto drop box. When jimmy opens the the files the char are posed incorrectly. To get around this the files were win zipped then sent as a zip file, which seems to have done the trick. Tweaks to lighting and envrinonment have been done suiting the animations.

Compositing
Up until week 6 all compositing has been done in Photoshop for still renders. Now we have some completed animation and environment hai has begun compositing in After effects. Shot 4B (running sequence) has been completed with haze, dof, colour corretion, and light effects by hai and will be ready to show for week 9 presention.

Sound
All 3 members have been collecting sound and music files for compiling a collecting when it comes to composting. On a later date recording for char voices/grunts will be set.

Credits, Title
After animation, Hai and myself will set to work desinging a logo, titles and credit designs. A rough idea has been decided on.

Tri6 Week 6

Had a bit of hic up this week, I lost my hard drive containing all my work from the last 2 years on including Major Project work. Luckily i left it at uni and someone kind people out there handing it in to reception.

Week6 Milestone presentations were due this week and were on schedule getting everything we planned to do by now done in time.
Animation
Hai and myself got all animation up to spline and compiled it into the most recent 3D animatic. I also finshed newly added shot4B (running sequence) and had that added to the animatic. This new animatic has a much better sense of timing than the blocked out version and the added running sequence makes more sense to the overall animation.

Environment
Jimmy has continued work on the opening environment and the end environment. both at close to completion at around 80 - 90% done and just need so minor tweaks. Once animations are complete they will be imported to his environment and lighting adjusted then its set to rendering.

We have also discussed and made plans for sound/music, recording of character voices, composting prep and title/credit designs

Tri6 Week5

This week we had our scheduled meeting on Tuesday and Friday and review work up to date. Both Hai and myself look ready to get our shots to spline by Friday week6 milestone presentation.

Shot 4B was added by myself, a running sequence to help the viewer understand distance has been travelling before they get to the egg.

Jimmy was unable to attend friday meeting due to internship commitments but Hai and myself discussed additional work to be done beyond animating. Such as sound/music effects, compositing pipeline, titles/credits and a revised schedule for the last 6 weeks.

Tri6 Week4

For week four Hai and Myself continued working on all the animation, we are aiming to get all shots to spline by milestone due in Week 6. Jimmy continues with shot 1 and the close up shot of the egg.

Andrew Silke (animator from animal logic) came in to look at our work. He gave us some positive feedback and helped me out with some of my animations. Suggesting some more expressive poses and giving them a more cartoony feel using a technique which he called "ramping". Where for example in my run cycle keeping the over all timing of the cycle the same but changing the spacing of the frames within. To emphasis a light characters run he should appear in the air longer than on the ground. by bunching up the keys when he is on the ground and spreading out the keys when he is in the air it gives this impression. Of course this only really works with cartoony styles.

Tri6 Week3

week 3 progress presentation were due on Friday,

3D Animatic
we prepared a 3d animatic with all shots blocked out, this gave us a sense of timing and allowed us to see if it made sense. We may need to add a vew more shots and hold some scenes at the moment its far too quick and hard to register everything that happens.

Shot 1A Leaf animation
jimmy also did some plant animation in the opening shot1A, he made a playblast of it (rendeering would take to long before friday when presentations were due).

Tri6 Week2

For week 2 more organizing was requried and task allocation was put in place.

environment
In terms of environment, a plan was set out for jimmy in terms of what is due each week. Next week (wk3) presentation a fully rendered of shot 1 will be delivered minus animation (jimmy will put in a place holder idle animation for the mean time for presentation purposes).

animation
hai and myself have divided the animation up in terms of shots and will begin to block out the entire animation. by wk3 presentation a full 3d animatic will be completed. beyond that we each work on each shot to get to blocking plus and maybe even spline.

Trimester 6 Week 1

Tri 6 Week 1 (Week 13 total)

Hey every one back form back and ready to get back into it. We will continue posting up updates on our progress throughout this trimester along with weekly timesheets.

Our current situation see's 2 rigs complete with around 10 weeks of animation ahead of Hai and myself. While Jimmy have a ton of environment to model and light.

Week 1 work:
internship
All three members have gained internship which has caused some problems in addition workload and time to meet. We are currently working on a solution to the meeting problem while the addition workload we will  just have to manage with re scheduling

meetings
Hai and Jimmy's share a full time position for internship meaning they 1 week on 1 week off which causes a problem as we cant all meet on Friday for Major Project. We are currently working on them getting friday off. We have online skype meetings during the week for task allocation and work review.

timesheets
Timesheets will be filled out weekly online in the form of google docs spreadsheet. These will list hours worked and tasks completed and will be submitted to this blog(week 1 attached) as per alex request.

revised storyboard
After consulting with Alex our revised storyboard has been agreed upon and we will aim to get this complete, if we finish earlier we will try to complete the original storyboard but not at the expense of quality work.

animatic2D
a quick animatic based on the story board has been created in flash for timing. Once blocking out has been approved a 3D animatic will be produced throughout the animation pipeline. As work is completed and approved it will be added to to the animatic to get a feeling for the whole animation with the section included.

animation plan
after consulting with David an animation plan has been developed for Hai and myself. This is to guarantee consistency throughout the animation with 2 animators, I will take the role of animation Director. The plan involves breakdown of shots, divide shots, thumbnail(drawings) key poses for shots, blocking with review and approve, blocking plus with review and approve, spline review and approve, polish.

We have plenty to do in the project as it stands plus the additional work with internship but we feel we are up to the challenge and want to improve on tri5 and finish our course with something of professional standard.
